Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Course
Pass Functional Skills’ maths level 2 online course is designed to equip you with everything you need to be able to pass your exam first time! The level 2 functional skills maths course is split up into 3 main topics: Using numbers, understanding measure shape and space & handling information and data. Each topic is split up into smaller sections to help you work through the course. You will find revision videos, practice questions (which are split up into easy medium and hard) and topic tests for each section of the course, as well as lots of mock exams and practice tests.
In addition to the course, we have two diagnostic tests to help you see where you are starting on the course and help guide your progress through it. The first is the initial assessment which gives you an initial level that you are starting at, as you work through the course this will change allowing you to see your progress. The second test is the subject knowledge assessment, this tests you across all areas of the course and will give you a list of recommended topics for you to focus your revision on.

Diagnostic Assessments
Take our functional skills maths level 2 online diagnostic tests to see where you are starting the course at. You will be given a current level and a list of recommended topics for you to focus your revision on.
Revision
Each small topic of the course contains a revision section. This is a series of short videos talking you through the content and how to answer questions on it.
Practice Questions
Within each topic there are practice questions, these can be easy, medium or hard depending on how much you want to challenge yourself. They are a series of multiple choice questions to test your understanding of what you learnt in the revision videos.
Topic Tests
The topic test builds on the practice questions and focuses more on exam style questions. These tend to be more scenario-based questions, like in the real exam.
Mock Exams
Within the course you will find lots of mock exams to help you prepare for the real thing. Some are specific to the exam board, while others are more general practise. All of our mock exams are auto-marked and have written and video solutions.
Booking in for your exam
Once you are consistently getting above 60% on mock exams and have worked through all your recommended topics, then you should be ready to sit your real exam. You can pick a date from your shop account, if you don’t already have one booked.
The Exam
Your functional skills maths level 2 exam will be sat online with one of our online invigilators. The level 2 maths exam lasts 2 hours and consists of a 30 minute non-calculator section and a 90 minute calculator section.
Getting Your Certificate
Once you have sat your exam, results can take up to 10 working days to be released. Once you have received your pass you will receive your functional skills maths level 2 certificate via email and then a paper copy will follow in the post.

A level 2 maths equivalent qualification is a GCSE. A pass in level 2 functional skills maths is the equivalent of a grade 4/C at GCSE. As a level 2 functional skills qualification is viewed as equivalent of a GCSE and can be achieved much quicker, they often taken by adult learners.
Once you have sat your exam, results can take up to 10 working days to be released. When you have received your pass result you will receive your e-certificate via email. In the following weeks, your physical functional skills maths level 2 certificate will be sent out in the post.
Yes, the flexible nature of the functional skills maths level 2 course and exam being online makes them ideal for those with busy schedules. There are no entry requirements for the exam, all you need is a laptop, a quiet room and a stable internet connection.
The level 2 maths qualification contains significantly less content than a GCSE. We recommend 50 hours of learning on the course to be ready for your exam, while a GCSE typically requires 2 years of teaching. Because of this a functional skills qualification is viewed as easier than a GCSE.
The pass mark tends to be around 55-60%, we recommend you make sure you have achieved this grade in a few practice exams to ensure you are prepared to pass first time.
Yes, lots of our learners take both at the same time. Because we run exams from 9am – 8pm on weekdays and 10:30am – 3:30pm on Saturdays, you can sit all your exams within the same week easily.
